Abuja Killer-Prophet Dies Awaiting Trial


Self-styled  prophet, Uche Iloduba who in early 2008 confessed to killing his newly-wedded wife,
Stella Ubi, in Abuja has died in a Kaduna hospital. Acting spokesman of the Nigerian Prisons Service, Kaduna, Mohammed Fari told THISDAY that Uche was on admission at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric hospital, Kaduna, for psychiatric treatment before developing liver disease.
"He was rushed to St. Geralds hospital on 28th February, 2015 and died on 3rd March. His family was aware of the kidney problem.  Our prison doctor was by Uche's side when he died," Fari told THISDAY. 
Uche, who hailed from Ozubulu, Anambra State, had in early 2008 sparked national outrage by gruesomely killing his wife, burning parts of her body and locking up her decomposed remains in their Wuse, Abuja home. 
Stella was a staff of Nigeria Investment Promotion Council (NIPC) According to the police, the self-styled prophet had thereafter fled to Lokoja and took a while before Stella's brothers discovered her decomposed body.
Upon his arrest, 39-year old  Uche confessed to killing Stella with a machete and a hammer before burning her face with a stove.  The  Reverend King look-alike, who claimed to have written over 300 religious books, said he saw his wife in a vision planning to poison him, so killed her.
