at home and Diaspora, has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Ataharu Jega, saying that it has no confidence on Jega to conduct free and fair elections on March 28 and April 11.
The council, through its National President, Mazi Isiguzoro Okechukwu, said: “Jega will wreak unprecedented havoc on the country if he is allowed to preside over the conduct of the general elections. By his antecedents, he has shown preponderance of evidence which indicate that he is biased against the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the platform under which President Goodluck Jonathan is contesting the presidential election, but favours the All Progressives Congress, APC, which has Gen. Mohammadu Buhari (rtd), as presidential candidate.
“He should therefore, be sacked now before it is too late.”
The group, in Sapele, Delta State, also threw its weight behind the presidential ambition of Jonathan and the Delta State PDP candidate in the April 11 governorship election, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
